In this SPP1738 funded project, Janina and coworkers investigated the role of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), in this case, HuR as functional regulator of non-coding RNAs in neurons. In her impressive study, Janina came up with a cool model how an RBP selectively destabilizes a target mRNA, i.e. Rgs4, in cooperation with a miRNA, i.e. miR-26 and the RISC machinery.
